Ronald Hernandez, Atlanta United’s longest-serving player, has re-signed with the team. The agreement was announced Monday.

Hernandez, 28, and the team agreed to a one-year contract with an option for the 2027 year, which includes the first season in 2027 and half the next season in MLS’ new calendar.

Hernandez joined Atlanta United before the 2021 season. He has made 70 appearances, including 50 starts. He has scored two goals with two assists.

Hernandez had a salary of $290,750 last season, according to the MLSPA database.

He likely will compete with Tomas Jacob and Matthew Edwards to start at right fullback.

Atlanta United is scheduled to open training camp Monday.
