Army 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, an air defense artillery officer who grew up in Cobb County and was killed last month in an Iranian missile strike in Jordan, was laid to rest in Georgia on Friday.
Feehan, 25, was buried north of Atlanta, at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, after a funeral procession through town.
He died July 18 in an attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base while serving in the Middle East. Iran has repeatedly fired missiles at neighboring countries that host U.S. military bases in response to U.S. aerial attacks on Iran that began in late February.

Feehan had joined the Army in 2019 in Hawaii as a combat engineer in the Army National Guard there. According to the Army, he went on active duty in 2024 after attending Brigham Young University, and was a platoon leader at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, assigned to 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command.
According to his obituary, Feehan, known as “Tivo,” considered his military duty “his calling” and was planning to attend law school, and, later, become a high school football coach.
“He was a big kid at heart whose ever-growing LEGO collection eventually took over his home,” Feehan’s obituary from Woodstock Funeral Home noted. “He was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves, loved traveling the world, enjoyed Dr. Squatch soap and Shatto Milk, and found happiness in every adventure, big or small.”

During the July 22 dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base of Feehan and three other soldiers killed in the war with Iran, President Donald Trump told Feehan’s family their son was “a person who was going all the way. He would have been a general very quickly,” The New York Times reported.
The family flew with Trump later the same day to Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Georgia and attended an event at Wheeler High School in Marietta promoting the president’s signature savings program for children.
