Investigators are searching for a suspect who they said shot and killed his ex-girlfriend at a Hall County convenience store Thursday night.

Tia Vidon Keith, 44, of Oakwood arrived at Subhanallah Food Mart around 9:30 p.m., made a purchase and then returned to her car to find her “former live-in boyfriend” in the passenger seat, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Officials said Keith was shot multiple times in her vehicle before she managed to escape and go back inside the convenience store. The suspect followed her inside and again shot Keith multiple times, killing her, officials said.

“She died on the floor of the convenience store,” the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities did not provide a possible motive, saying the shooting happened “for an unknown reason.”

The suspect had already fled the scene in his vehicle when deputies arrived about 10 minutes later, according to the sheriff’s office. A store clerk reported the crime.

Authorities have not released the name of the suspect, but said that they do have “viable leads” on his location.

In addition to Keith and the clerk, the sheriff’s office said another customer was inside the store at the time of the shooting. They were both uninjured.

The incident prompted the closure of Mountain View and Old Oakwood roads, which reopened to traffic just before 7 a.m.
