The Falcons are competing with seven other NFL teams to find a new head coach, plus the team needs to hire a general manager and someone for the newly created position of president of football.
Team owner Arthur Blank announced Sunday night that the Falcons fired coach Raheem Morris after two seasons. Then on Monday, the Browns, Cardinals and Raiders followed suit. On Tuesday, the Ravens fired coach John Harbaugh, and on Thursday, the Dolphins fired coach Mike McDaniel, bringing the number of openings for head coaches in the NFL to eight.

The Falcons requested to interview Seattle defensive coordinator Aden Durde, according to NFL Media.
Durde was a member of Dan Quinn's staff with the Falcons from 2016-20.
In Durde’s youth, he would travel two hours across London to practice and play American football.
He helped develop linebackers Deion Jones, DeVondre Campbell and Foye Oluokun when he was with the Falcons.
Durde is a native of London.
Matt Ryan, the Falcons' new president of football, will appear on "The NFL Today" show Sunday and will address his new role with the team. The show will start at noon before the Bills play Jaguars at 1 p.m.
Shortly after naming Matt Ryan as president of football, the team started interviewing candidates for the head coach opening.
Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver and Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak were interviewed on Saturday.
The Falcons are clearly on the fast track.
It took them less than 24 hours to hire Ryan, after interviewing five candidates over Thursday and Friday.
Here are brief bios for Weaver and Kubiak:
Anthony Weaver, 45, Dolphins defensive coordinator: He interviewed for the openings with the Falcons and Commanders in 2024. He’s a defensive line coach by trade and completed his first season as the Dolphins coordinator. Weaver also spent time with the Jets, Bills and Texans. He played defensive end at Notre Dame and in the NFL with the Ravens (2002-05) and Texans (2006-08).
Klint Kubiak, 38, Seahawks offensive coordinator: Kubiak played safety at Colorado State and entered the NFL as a quality control assistant for the Vikings in 2013. He has been in a coordinator position for five different teams over the past five seasons. He was Minnesota’s offensive coordinator in 2021, Denver’s pass game coordinator/quarterbacks coach in 2022, San Francisco’s pass game coordinator in 2023, the Saints’ offensive coordinator in 2024 and Seattle’s offensive coordinator in 2025.
Former Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was interviewed for their president of football job Friday night, the team announced.

Matt Ryan, 40, CBS announcer: Currently, Ryan is a broadcaster with CBS. He was the Falcons’ starting quarterback from 2008-21, starting 222 games for the team. He guided the team to two NFC championship games and one Super Bowl trip. He’s the lone player in franchise history to win the NFL MVP award.
The Falcons completed their interview with Josh Williams for the organization’s president of football Friday afternoon.
Here's a brief bio on Williams:
Josh Williams, 49ers director of scouting and football operations: He was a finalist for the Jacksonville GM job last season. Williams is in his 15th season with the 49ers. He worked his way up from being an area scout. He’s a native of Santa Rosa, California, who earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Columbia University in 2010.

The Falcons requested permission to interview San Francisco defensive coordinator Robert Saleh for their head coaching position, according to TheMMQB.Com.
Here’s a brief bio on Saleh:
Robert Saleh, 49ers defensive coordinator: Saleh, 46, interviewed with the Falcons in 2021 when Arthur Smith landed the job. Saleh was named the Jets head coach. He posted a 20-36 record before being fired five games into the 2024 season. Jeff Ulbrich was his defensive coordinator and took over as the interim coach.
The Falcons have requested permission to interview Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. The Falcons can interview Hafley after the Packers play the Bears in the wild-card round of the playoffs Saturday.

After 11 seasons in the college ranks, he start with the Bucs in the NFL in 2021 as an assistant defensive backs coach. He also coached with the Browns and 49ers. He was named the Packers defensive coordinator in 2024. Coached future NFL players Duron Harmon and Logan Ryan at Rutgers.

He spent 14 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he helped build three Super Bowl winners – 2019, 2022 and 2023 – as the director of football administration and later vice president of football operations.
The Falcons completed an interview Thursday with Mike Disner for the organization’s president of football.
Disner, who has spent the past seven seasons (2019-25) with the Lions, currently is their chief operating officer.
Before joining the Lions, he spent six seasons (2013-18) with the Cardinals as director of football administration after four years at the NFL Management Council, one as labor operations manager (2012) and three as labor operations coordinator (2009-11).
Disner started his NFL career as a scouting assistant with the Patriots in 2007 after serving as an intern.
Disner has a degree in economics from Williams College in Massachusetts.
