A woman died after a vehicle rear-ended a stopped MARTA bus in DeKalb County early Wednesday, officials said.

The bus was at a traffic light near Memorial Drive and Carter Road in the Belvedere Park area around 2 a.m. when the vehicle ran into it, a MARTA spokesperson said in a statement to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. A bus stop is located at that intersection.

DeKalb police, who are investigating the collision, said the driver of the vehicle died at a hospital. She was identified as 45-year-old Lucy Sanchez by the county medical examiner’s office.

Two passengers in the vehicle were also hurt, police said. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

MARTA officials said no passengers were aboard the bus, but the driver also reported an injury. That person’s condition was not specified.

DeKalb police said investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
